HISTORY:

The different “bodegas” and the variety of vineyards in Rueda, Ribera del Duero and Toro controlled by the Yllera family are surely the most identifying elements of this company, who has taken advantages of each one of these areas and “terroirs” in order to make high quality wines with a unique personality.

The Yllera family, the 6th generation of vine growers and wine producers, together with the oenologist from “La Rioja” Ramón Martinez, are the owners of Grupo YLLERA.

This is a group of wineries established in the heart of Castilla y León region, the geographic area alongside the Duero River.

From the beginning, when only white wine was made, the Yllera family is now making a great variety of highly prestigious wines, such as red and rosé wines from D.O. Ribera del Duero, D.O. Toro and Vinos de la Tierra de Castilla y León and white and sparkling wines from D.O. Rueda.

The continuous and large investments in technology, oak barrels and an exhaustive and careful grape selection, have consolidated GRUPO YLLERA as a leading company in both domestic and export markets with new projects in different wine areas such as Toro, Rioja or even Mendoza in Argentina.

THE WINERIES:

GRUPO YLLERA has 3 different “bodegas”, each one with a particular function:

  • The winery located in the D.O. Ribera del Duero in Boada de Roa (Burgos), is used since 1986 for the elaboration of magnificent, elegant and sophisticated red wines. The BRACAMONTE and the VIÑA DEL VAL are good sample of this.
  • An up-to-date winery in Rueda, located in front of the Madrid-Coruña highway, where the famous TINTO YLLERA elaboration and ageing process takes place. The white wine VIÑA CANTOSÁN, the first modern stile “verdejo” of the appellation D. O. Rueda, is also made in this high technology equipped “bodega”.
  • The third winery is probably the most singular one. It is a monumental building over an underground Mudéjar style cellar which dates from the XIV Century. The almost one kilometre of tunnels and corridors with more than 20 meters depth, are used for dormitory of the sparkling wines and reserve bottles and for an original and spectacular dining room.

WINES:

GRUPO YLLERA makes more than 20 different wines, elaborated with the main objective of getting the best relation quality-price-personality in all of them, with the purpose of beeing “THE WISE CHOISE”, slogan of their communication and publicity campaigns.

Their main labels are:

  • YLLERA (Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León)
  • BRACAMONTE (D. O. Ribera del Duero)
  • CANTOSAN (D. O. Rueda)
  • GARCILASO (D. O. Toro)
  • COELUS (D. O. Rioja)
