OLVENA, a young and family owned winery, belonging to the D.O. of Somontano and located in the foot hills of the Aragonese Pyrenees was inaugurated in October 2005.

Although wine production began in 2002, OLVENA is one of the wineries with most presence within the D.O. of Somontano and is committed to being at the cutting edge, not only in viticulture and wine making, but also in design and distribution.

The Abbad family, with a long history in different sectors including agriculture and livestock in Somontano, decided to make their dreams come true.

During 2 years they visited numerous wineries all over the world looking for inspiration.

OLVENA, a small village which due to its soil and climate offers the perfect conditions was chosen for planting the best grape varieties from Spain and France. In 1999 they established vineyards on their best plots of land and acquired various parcels in order to have the best grapes available.
In dedication to the land, OLVENA is the name chosen for the wines as most of the vineyards are located in the village.

In 2001 work was started on a modern and appealing winery that possesses the most advanced and latest technology for winemaking.

A total of 240 hectares with the lowest yields per hectare in Somontano guarantee an excellent quality for the 7 grape varieties used for a production of 800,000 bottles.

Special mention goes to the magnums which are prepared by hand or the squared bottle of Hache, a Garnacha/Syrah blend that has won international awards.

Isidro Ferrer (National Design Award 2002), artist, friend and Aragonese by adoption has accepted the challenge of giving life to the image of OLVENA basing it on the simple, beautiful vine shoot that will be part of OLVENA forever.

We offer wonderful facilities, suitable for receiving groups and families. The impressive views of the Pyrenees together with green countryside and a perfectly proportioned bodega make OLVENA a unique choice. Our location is perfect as one must pass through it to reach the Aragonese Pyrenees.

What separates our winery from other wineries is the friendly and personal touch, tailor made visits for groups…etc. OLVENA is not only recognised for its excellent and award winning wines, but also for its wine tourism.

 As well as the traditional winery visits, tasting courses, vineyard visits, etc… we have created the “Wine Workshop”, a unique proposition in Spain, whereby the visitor not only learns about winemaking but also participates in the process.
