Aranda
de Duero is the largest town of the Ribera del Duero
wine region, and it is famous for its wines, roasted
lamb and its underground cellars. Most of them are
privately owned and are not open to the public. Don
Carlos cellar is an exception, it was restored by
its actual owners and open to the public so everybody
could enjoy this particular construction so popular
in the Ribera del Duero winemaking history.
During
the visit you will feel you are back in time and you
will learn about the history of
Aranda
and its underground cellars, the architectural characteristics
of these constructions to achieve the purpose of perfect
wine storage and aging, and more interesting things
about Ribera del Duero Wines. Then you will have the
opportunity to buy some wines from their Wine Shop
where there is always a qualified person that will
be very happy to advise you with your wine shopping
The
cellar is also used as a unique venue for other wine
activities and events, wine tasting courses, commented
tastings, food and wine matching, etc.
