Cal Llop (the Wolf's Den) is a unique hotel in Gratallops in the Priorat region - where ancient stone, wood and iron are mixed with the latest of modern design and technologies.

The building, on two floors, was originally built in the thirteenth century (or so history tells us) and was rebuilt at the end of the eighteenth century.

Double rooms and comfortable suites are quiet and outward-facing, full of natural light, and have telephone, plasma tv and dvd, internet access and wonderful bathrooms, all with shower (no baths). There is a duplex room on the third floor (bedroom on one level and bathroom on another). Each room is different, incorporating a mixture of old and new in design and decoration. Some of the rooms are south-facing, decorated in natural blues and ochres, with balconies overlooking the landscape. Other rooms have views over the mountains and the Ermita de la Consolacio.

Restaurant

The stables have been converted into a lovely little restaurant serving regional cuisine There is a small terrace where you can enjoy an evening drink before dinner.

Although they label their food as regional cuisine, it is one of the best places to eat in Priorato, it has regional influence, but the food is creative and surprising, excellent ingredients, cooked with an amazing good taste both in your mouth and for your eyes. A place not to miss in this highly gastronomical region.

Priorat is an important wine-growing area and this is a perfect base from which to explore the villages and wineries close by.
