Situated in the heart of Penedès you will find our farmhouse near the village of Vilobi just 9 km from Vilfranca del Penedés and a little more than 45 km from Barcelona and Tarragona.
From the masia, which is surrounded by vineyards and tipical crops of the area, you can enjoy uninterrupted views of the mountains of Montserrat to the castle of Sant Marti Sarroca.
The main house dates from the beginning of the 1900s with characteristic archietectural elements inspired by the rural surroundings.
Over the years the house has been modernised and currently includes more than 550 sq mts distributed between the main house and the various outbuildings.
A large secluded garden is composed of vines, fruit trees, ecological vegetable garden and numerous small corners that invite you to releax and listen to the rhythme of country life.
BIOHOTEL
This is a pioneering initiative, the first countryhotel of its type in Spain.
As a Biohotel, our “raison d’etre” is maximum respect for the environment, sustainability and the cultivation and use of biological products.
To enjoy Cal Ruget Biohotel is to satisfy the five senses, without haste and with time to observe the smaller details of life.We have spent 25 years immersed in the hotel world. We like to work with people and see that they enjoy themselves as clients and friends.
With this project we wish to add our “grain of sand” to highlight the small things and details that make life so much more enjoyable.
Simplicity without ostentation, valueing the things that are close to us and respecting as much as we can our environment and the fruits of the land that surround us.
We are to a large extent self sufficient and use products harvested from our own garden.
We believe that fair trade is all around us and we collaborate with local farmers, producers and wine-makers.
Here are some of our good practices as a Biohotel:
-We only use ecological and biodegradable products for cleaning and maintainance of our installations.ROOMS
-Our suppliers come from within a radius of 100km and are preferably biocertified.
-We use electric energy, water and oil, stressing energy conservation and recycling.
-We recycle and compost our waste.
-We cultivate our vines and garden using organic methods.
-We collaborate with our local society by volunteering (classes on cooking and nutrition, etc) and we destine 1% of our profits to social causes.
-In our courses on food education, we highlight the basic foods, respect for the seasons, and cooking techniques aimed at healthy and enjoyable consumption.
-We practice eco-gastronomy (slow food), always offering products in season, prepared with respect in order to conserve the best of their nutritional properties.

Our accommodation is decorated in a provincial style with all the comforts necessary for relaxation and tranquility, decorated with a symphony of small details that make each one individual.

The main house comprises 4 en suite double bedrooms (two with extra sofa bed). The rooms have large comfortable beds with fresh linen dried naturally in country air, television and sound system. Each room has exterior views of the garden and surrounding vineyards.
There is an “open-bar” space with refreshments and nibbles. We also offer three accommodations located in the out-houses. Each is bright and spacious with exit direct onto the garden.
Our accommodation is decorated in a provincial style with all the comforts necessary for relaxation and tranquility, decorated with a symphony of small details that make each one individual.
EVENTS & INCENTIVES
Cal Ruget Biohotel is the ideal place to organize small scale private and business events for up to 40 people. With the intimacy that our country house offers, you can unite your closest collaborators, friends and family members. We have room for meetings. Companies will have a place where they can meet in absolute tranquility and may design their work sessions to include gastronomy and activities within our bio-space. Your stay at en Cal Ruget Biohotel may achieve three objectives, work, relaxation and training.
For groups of friends and family we offer a unique space and comfortable atmosphere to celebrate parties and events where you will feel as if you are in your own home but with a considerable amount of space and organization at your disposal. BIO-ACTIVITIES
Our “raison d’etre” for Cal Ruget Biohotel requires total dedication to sustainability and respect natural cultivation of the food we produce. You will be able to realize activities which will bring you new knowledge about a health, balanced and enjoyable diet.
We organize excursions by bike, horse and on foot. You will learn about our best practices executed with the maximum of respect for the environment and learn to cultivate even in the smallest space in your home.
Don’t forget that we are located in Penedès, one of the most important wine regions of southern Europe as well as being the area famous for its Cava sparkling wines. There are organic and biodynamic wineries looking forward to showing you the fascinating world of wine.
