This tour is all about Wine and Food, for people who want to experience Spanish gastronomy and wine and Spanish culture in the north of Spain. The tour will also take you through some of the best food and wine areas in Spain, from San Sebastian, gastronomy paradise to Rioja, wine land, including the new Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, historical sites that will be visited and admired. You will discover why the north of Spain is one of the hottest destination for food and wine lovers

 Included:  Accommodation in double room with breakfast in suggested hotel, for 4 nights. Meals as per itinerary with wine: 1 tapas dinner, one tapas cooking class for lunch or dinner, one lunch in Bilbao and one lunch in Rioja. Extra meals can be added, price will depend on you budget. 1 day of guided wine tour. Each wine tasting day includes lunch with wine and winery visits, and a guide with transport. NOTES:

  • Wineries will be selected depending on availability and your personal preferences, we can always try to include the ones you prefer
  • Usually you will taste a minimum of two or three wines on each winery; more extensive tastings can be included.
  • Although this is a private tour we do not guarantee that the winery visit will be just for your group unless specifically requested. Please let us know if you prefer to have a private tour and tasting.
  • Please keep in mind that Sunday is the worse day to visit wineries, Saturday is not great either but better than Sunday. However, we could arrange for a tour those days as well.
  • If you have a specific budget let us know, we can consider it.
  • These  tours can be done starting with 2 people.
  • If for any reason any given establishment is not available during the dates requested, we will change the winery, hotel or restaurant for a different one within the same category and level of service.
Itinerary

 Day 1. San Sebastian. Night in San Sebastian (H, tapas dinner)
Drive to San Sebastian. Private tapas tour for dinner.
Suggested stops if you drive from Barcelona: Zaragoza where you can visit the town and have lunch. Olite, visit a winery if you want and visit the castle and the medieval town. Pamplona, you can visit the town and stroll in the pathway of the running of the bulls.

Suggested stops driving from Madrid: Ribera del Duero and visit a winery. Burgos and visit the cathedral

Day 2. San Sebastian, the Basque coast and cooking class. Night in San Sebastian (H, B, D cooking class for dinner)
 Free day to enjoy San Sebastian. Drive along the beautiful Basque coast, visit the fisherman village of Getaria, home of the Balenciaga Museum. Have lunch in Getaria with fresh catch of the day. Or relax in San Sebastian, or visit the French Basque country with lunch in Biarritz. Private tapas cooking class in San Sebastian for lunch or dinner

Day 3. Bilbao and Rioja. Night in Rioja (H, B, L)
 Drive to Bilbao to visit the Guggenheim with lunch at the Guggeheim Bistro. Optional: lunch in Azurmendi, a 3 Michelin star restaurant located in a txacoli winery just 15 min from Bilbao.
 Drive to Rioja and hotel check in

Day 4. Guided wine tour in Rioja. Night in Rioja (H, B, L, WV)
Visit two or three wineries in Rioja and have a traditional lunch. One can be a traditional winery with wine tasting in Haro or nearby villages. The other one will be a more modern winery. In Rioja you can also visit the new Wine Culture Museum Dinastia Vivanco. And you can dedicate some time to visit the small towns of Rioja like: Medieval walled village of Laguardia (13th century), capital of La Rioja Alavesa. Under the stone paved streets and homes of Laguardia it is full of old subterranean bodegas, and over them there are many historic monuments and sites, like the Gothic facade of Santa Maria de los Reyes church from the 14th century.

Day 5. End of our services and continue your trip (B).
