This
restaurant “asador” grill is located in an
old cave-cellar underneath the castle of Peñafiel. Decorated
in a typical rustic Castilian style; the best decoration is the
cave stone, and the old barrels that were used to store wine.
The cave is opened for lunch on weekends, and weekly for groups,
but if you just want to see it, you can always go down from the
main dining room.
Serving
traditional food, the menu has a lot of items
to choose from, but their specialty is lamb roasted in a wood
fired oven, as Spanish people say “lechazo asado”,
that comes perfectly cooked and served with salad. Morcilla
or black sausage is another typical product, they serve it grilled,
and it is also very good. They have a big selection of fresh fish
too, and all types of meat, lamb chops or steaks. Deserts are
traditional and not very complicated.
The
wine menu is basically dedicated to Riberas with quite reasonable
prices. As a summary we can say that in “El Lagar de San
Vicente”, you can enjoy a nice bottle of wine having a delicious
lunch or dinner. And one last thing, parking is easy too, something
to be grateful for if you are in Peñafiel.
