Perez-Pascuas is one of our favourite wineries. The extraordinary hospitality of the Pascuas brothers: Adolfo, Manolo and Benjamin and all the winery team, paired with the general enthusiasm for good wines, makes always pleasant the visit to this winery.

They have been pioneers in the development of the wine tourism in Ribera del Duero, opening their state to visitors and designing a new winery with a special social area and shop, a reception for guests, tasting rooms, dining rooms, etc. We agree with them in the basic concept that a winery must be an open place where wine lovers can come and have a nice time in the company of this family, sharing some bottles of Viña Pedrosa accompanied by cheese, bread or nice roasted lamb from the area.

This is a familiar modern winery in the heart of Ribera del Duero, where the tradition is mixed perfectly with the most modern technology to make elegant wines that will never disappoint. The Perez-Pascuas brothers decided to start to make their own wine in the 70´s, using the worthy vines they inherited from their father. They founded the winery in 1980, convinced of the great possibilities the area had to produce high quality wines. They were actually pioneers in the Ribera del Duero area. They are one of the oldest wineries in this appellation of origin; in fact they are one of the founders in the Regulatory Council. Since the beginning they have bet for an integral control in the whole process, from the vine, to the wine-making process. They use new barrels from American and French oak. Vines grow in a land locate between 700 to 800 metres over the sea level. Half of these vines are over 25 years old.

They make red wines that are elegant, powerful, complex, full bodied and that keep their fruit. You can either drink them now, or keep them cause they have a very slow evolution in bottle. They use 90% Tempranillo here called Tinta del País and 10% •Cabernet Sauvignon. They have a production of 400.000 bottles and they make young wine, crianza, reserva and gran reserva. With the selected oldest vines (60 years old), they create their special Pérez Pascuas Gran Selección a very unique cuvée of Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon (the only varieties they grow), aged in new American and French barrels that appeas only in excellent vintages. The new state-of-the-art bodega in Pedrosa caters for the continuation of the high standards this winery has set in Ribera de Duero.

The winery has three buildings, one is for the elaboration and ageing, the shop and reception, and the social room. Both social building are a mixture of styles, vanguard and modern with traditional ideas. From the social house you can watch all the vineyard and these rooms can be used for: meetings, tastings, banquets, etc. There is also a marvelous garden, with pine trees and royal turkeys.

Wines from this winery:

Cepa Gavilán, 100% tempranillo. It comes labeled as a young wine, but is what in Ribera is known as roble (oak), It has been inside an oak barrel but not enough time as to be considered a crianza. In this case it has 12 months in a barrel but not much in a bottle.

• Viña Pedrosa crianza, 100% tempranillo, 18 months in barrel and 8 months in bottle.

• Viña Pedrosa reserva, 90% tempranillo, 10% cabernet sauvignon, 24 months in barrel and 18 months in bottle.

Viña Pedrosa Gran reserva, same as the reserva with 36 months in bottle.

• Pérez Pascuas Gran Selección, Made with vines older than 50 years a special plot “El pago de Valtarreña”, it has spent 26 months in barrel. They only make it in years with an excellent harvest. Limited production of 6000 bottles.
