PENEDES AND PRIORAT- Wine and cava - 2 nights

SUMMARY: This tour is will show you the regions of Penedes that is a reference for exceptional wine and cava, and Priorat the new hot region for Spanish modern wine. Cava is the Spanish name for sparkling wine like Champaign in France

LODGING: Charming country luxury hotels in small towns

Day 1: PENEDES. We'll pick you up from Barcelona in the morning and start the drive to the astonishing Montserrat Abby located at the top of a rocky mountain.

After lunch we will visit a small family winery where they produce excellent wine and cava and we will taste both.

Dinner in the excellent restaurant of the hotel with wines to match. We will taste the innovative Catalan cuisine that is making this region of Spain a gastronomic destination.

Day 2: PRIORAT. After breakfast we will start the drive to the Priorat region where we will visit two of the most representative wineries. We will have lunch in the restaurant of one of the wineries.

Day 3: PENEDES. After breakfast in the hotel we will visit a medium size winery where they also produce both wine and cava. They are some of the pioneers in organic and ecological wine.

Visit the impressive Torres winery in Pacs del Penedès. A very large internationally known winery that open its doors to show how the tradition of wine making is combine with modern technology. Traditional catalan lunch.

Visit to one of the large cavas. Cavas means caves, and this is the name for the wineries that produce sparkling wine in the region, since traditionally the bottles were kept in caves.
