With
over seventy years in the wine business they are still a family
winery belonging to the Cusine family that combines perfectly
tradition with technology. Nowadays they elaborate very high
quality both still and sparkling wines and they are very happy
to receive visitors to see the winery and taste the wine in
situ.
They
own 340 hectares of vineyard located in five villages, ten kilometers
from the Mediterranean Sea, extending through valleys and mountains
at altitudes of between 210 and 680 meters. Throughout the winter
flocks of sheep graze our lands, naturally fertilizing the earth
and eliminating any need for artificial fertilizers. Canopy
planting is employed, a system which besides facilitating harvest
free of leaves and stems, improves ventilation and ripening.
They grow 14 different grape varieties all available for blending,
Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet franc, Tempranillo and more. A careful
selection of varieties which determine and influence the character
of great wines. Natural gravity pressing gives the finest must
possible, full of clean fresh aromas. Fermented in French Limousin,
fine grain Allier barrels or American oak employing the batonage
system or temperature controlled stainless steel vats depending
on the wines they wish to create. under the direction of the
oenologist Marta Casas. They have an average annual production
of a million bottles and 600 barrels.

GRATAVINUM

Gratavinum is the winery of the Cusine family
in the town of Gratallops in Priorat. They use garnacha negra,
carignan, cabernet sauvignon, syrah and merlot grape varieties.
