Matarromera
group is one of the most well known wineries in
Ribera and one of the most interesting enotourism
projects in the area. They have:

The
Matarromera Group is comprised by 5 wineries and
a distillery: three wineries under the Ribera
del Duero D.O., Matarromera, Emina and Renacimiento,
one under the Cigales D.O., Valdelosfrailes, and
they also produce a wine under the Rueda D.O.,
Aldor.

Ribera del Duero
Bodegas
Matarromera are found right in the heart of the
Ribera de Duero. Its facilities are partially buried
in the north hillside of the Duero Valley with beautiful
views that towers above the whole valley of the
municipal district of Valbuena de Duero in Valladolid.
Matarromera is born with clear international successes
and keeps on wining most prestigious awards and
recognition already enjoyed over its whole business
development. Bodegas
Matarromera applies a superb technology for best
quality winemaking. It also incorporates a temperature-control
and stainless steel vats and equipments. Bodegas
Matarromera winemaking capacity reaches 650,000
litres. 
Emina.
Ribera del Duero
The
EMINA vineyards’ origin dates back to the
XII Century Cistercian monks in Olivares de Duero
and Valbuena de Duero. The monks supplied their
grapes varietal and also settled them in the region.
At that age each monk used to have his own daily
portion of wine, known as EMINA (capacity measure
used in those days equivalent to 1/4 of a litre,
approximately.) By
recalling that age-old tradition, during the middle
of the 90’s Carlos Moro set up a cellar of
a careful production that owns its own vineyards
and superb facilities.
Leading-edge technology for best quality red wines.
The cellar includes temperature-control equipment,
and stainless steel vats and equipment. The
vines occupy an area of 42 hectares.
Renacimiento.
Ribera del Duero
The
Marquis of Olivares built in the XVI Century a noble
house that has stood up till now. During the XVII
Century this house was the dwell of Jesuits and
remained as convent until XIX Century when Church’s
lands were sold (“Desamortización).
At this epoch the Moro family, devoted to the viticulture
business and the oenology, made the decision to
restore the cellar and recreate an utmost quality
wine. Then, they applied manual and handicraft process
in order to handle both grape and wine with loving
care and offer a product of sensory excellence.
The bodega owns 85 hectares of 25, 10 and 5 –years-old
vines.
Bodegas
Vermilion. Ribera del Duero
Bodegas
Vermilion is born in Valbuena de Duero (Valladolid),
with the intention to make its own autonomous wine,
capable to meet the maximum quality criterion demanded
by its own authors. This
wine has been granted first positioning as one of
the best Spanish wines by critics and scorings of
wine specialized handbooks. Furthermore it has been
defined as a wine with a true personality and character
that gathers attributes proper of Great Wines. The
vines occupy four hectares in Valbuena de Duero.
Bodega
Valdelosfrailes. Cigales
In
1998 Carlos Moro opted for overhauling and producing
new red wines in the area. The Bodega Valdelosfrailes
undertakes an ambitious investment plan by building
two aging and bottling facilities equipped with
best technology for quality wine production. Its
wines enjoy of a careful winemaking process and
products restrict quantity. Bodega Valdelosfriales
has obtained awards and international recognition
with the first marketed products enjoying of high
scorings in magazines and specialized means.
Aldor
D.O. Rueda.
Rueda’s
wines date back to the Catholic Monarchs’
epoch, several centuries ago, when these wines were
entitled of the category of Court’s Wines.
The
Rueda Designation of Origin stands on the high plateau
of the Duero River. This terrain is made up of rarely
rich brownish-grey soil, poor in organic matter
but with good aeration and drainage. The Verdejo
is the main and indigenous grape variety of the
zone that lends wines its characteristic genuineness
and quality.
Destilerias
del Duero
A
few metres away from the Monastery of Santa María
de Valbuena and within the Emina complex, we find
Duero Distilleries, which produces liquors of the
highest quality, produced exclusively from the liquor
distilled from grape remains from the best wineries
in Ribera de Duero. Duero
Distilleries combine the very old art practiced
by the monks, who lived in this Cistercian temple,
with the excellent grapes from the Designation of
Origin ‘Ribera de Duero’ to make fine
luxury liquors and herbal brandies.
RESTAURANT
LA ESPADAÑA DE SAN BERNARDO
Within
the Shelter of the Monastery, ‘Santa Maria
de Valbuena’, lies the restaurant ‘La
Espadaña de San Bernardo’, a restaurant
whose facade is easily recognizable, mainly due
to its steeple which gives its name to and crowns
the building. The
Restaurant is situated just 1,000 meters away from
the Monastery ‘Santa Maria de Valbuena’,
and from its dining hall, situated in the upper
part of the building, or from its terrace, you can
enjoy spectacular views during your lunch or dinner.
A
perfect setting to enjoy an innovative range of
cuisine, but at the same time, respectful to the
Castilian traditions of gastronomy.
The
restaurant is open at lunch time from Tuesday to
Sunday and at dinner time on Fridays and Saturdays.
RURAL
HOUSE
Only
2 Km away from the Emina Wine Interpretation Centre
is the Emina rural house. It is available for rent
as a single property and is situated in the village
of Valbuena de Duero. The
Emina Rural House, an 18th century building restored
to offer peace and quiet to people looking for a
place to rest in this Castilian land. 3 rooms have
been furnished and decorated in accordance with
a the most genuine Castilian style: one living room,
two bathrooms and a kitchen, sleeping up to seven
people.
EMINA:
WINE INTERPRETATION CENTER.
This
Wine Interpretation Centre that will be open very
soon, was established with the firm purpose of becoming
a point of reference in ‘Ribera del Duero’.
The Emina Wine Interpretation Centre is completely
integrated with the surrounding area of San Bernardo,
fine materials from the area having been used for
this purpose. Emina is also a leisure centre where
all those people who come can enjoy an unforgetable
day, surrounded by nature, history, culture, gastronomy
and wine.
