Toledo
is the capital of Castilla-La Mancha and it is also the imperial
city. La Mancha is one of the emerging wine regions in Spain starting
to produce high quality wines
A tour to Toledo and La-Mancha is like a summary of what Spain
has to offer. It combines the introduction to the wines of La Mancha
with the historical city of Toledo where everything is represented:
culture, gastronomy, art, tradition, etc.
Toledo is the city of the three cultures, Christian,
Jewish and Islamic, and it is full of history, tradition and art.
It was declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986. Food and
wine are main characters in the life of Toledo, which is well known
for the quality of its cuisine, and the typical offerings produced
in this area: cheese of La Mancha, olive oil, marzipan and saffron.
In Toledo you will enjoy a cata or wine tasting commented
by an expert and followed by a gourmet dinner with exclusively selected
wines. You will also have time to shop in its multiple little stores
all kind of Spanish artesanía (hand crafted items).
La Mancha is the homeland of Don Quijote, the knight of the
sad figure created by Cervantes, one of the most famous Spanish
writers. In this tour we will follow his steps through this area
that is now starting to produce good quality wine after years of
massive production. In Valdepeñas, we will have the opportunity
to see wine being made in tinajas, big earthmade jars, like
in in Roman times.
