HARVEST EXPERIENCE IN RIOJA IN SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER

Harvest in Spain takes place in September and October. The fields are filled with the vines full of grapes, fruits ready for being picked up, a precious gift form Earth to indulge our own fields of energy. We will feel the freshness of the moment, the joy from the farmers and the given disposition of the soil. Something you cannot miss.

This time Vintage Spain welcomes you to experience the Energy coming from Harvest Time in Rioja with two different harvest activities:

Harvest: From grape to bottle. September 23rd, 28th and 30th - 40 euros per person

where you will visit the vineyard, pick some grapes, and then go to an artisan cellar where you will learn how wine is made, taste wine from the barrel and bottle your own wine (September 23rd, 28th and 30th).

Meet in the morning and start the walk to the vineyards. You will be accompanied by an expert viticultor who will explain about Rioja, grapes, land and vineyards. Learn about the importance of the grapes and the vineyards to have a good wine, and the difference that the soil and the weather have on the final fruit. It is time of harvest, so you will pick up the grapes by hand and put them in boxes before taking them to the winery.

After the vineyard you will head to our traditional winery (so called bodega de cosechero), in the same village, where we will carry out different experiments in order to understand the fermentation of wine and winemaking in general. You will later on descend to the 16th century cellar, dug in natural stone, where you will taste wine directly from the barrels (with the appropriate explanations). Finally, each member of the group will bottle his own bottle of wine, that he will carry back home personalized on the label.

Traditional Harvest: Picking and Stomping. October 11th - 45 euros per person

After picking the grapes from the vineyard you will press them with your own feet in one of the stone lagares or lakes that were in use in Rioja during the XVI century.

And now the fun start, you will take the grapes and you will press them with your own feet in one of the stone lagares or lakes that were in use in Rioja during the XVI century.  After such a hard work you will enjoy a well deserved traditional lunch and the visit to a working winery.

OPTIONAL: LUNCH AND WINERY VISIT. FULL PROGRAM 95 euros per person. Lunch will be traditional Riojan food in a winery or a restaurant, depending on the day. And you will visit a modern winery where you will see the bustle of harvest time in a working place.
