Situated
in the eastern part Rioja and surrounded by some of the best wineries
in the area, this country hotel is the ideal place to rest and
relax in a quiet and luxurious atmosphere. The old Dominican monastery
of Nuestra Señora de la Piedad founded in 1509 by the Bishop
of Calahorra, Don Juan de Velasco, has been restored and decorated
to become an elegant hotel that welcomes every traveller that
comes to Rioja. The hotel provides every guest with all the comfort
and modern amenities keeping its old special charm. It offers
warm and comfortable rooms with an oversize Jacuzzi and wonderful
views.
This
is a historical and artistic monument built in Catholic Monarchs
Plateresque style using masonry stone with important ornaments
and with carpentry or woodwork ceiling. The building was a true
master piece in its old times due to its enormous dimensions and
its slender architecture. Located in one of the best places of
the village, next to the church, it has been accurately called
the Aranjuez Palace of Rioja.
After
a careful restoration and decoration work done by the designer
Pedro Ortega and his team, fifteen well furnished huge rooms open
their doors. The big walls of this hotel shelter spaces and corners
that will make you go back in time and enjoy with the visual effects
offered by its original decoration. Don’t forget to pay
attention to the original decorative elements: singular washbasins,
mirrors, curtains, lamps, paintings, Trampantojos (paintings on
doors and in the walls).
Many
activities can be enjoyed in the area, like visits to different
wineries with wine tasting that can be arranged by the hotel personnel.
The hotel is small enough, only fifteen rooms, to keep the personalized
and friendly service that will make you feel a truly special guest.
Vintage
Spain can help you organize tapas tours or events in this
hotel.
