VINTAGE SPAIN NEWSLETTER. Wine tasting tours in Spain |
|
|
A
NEW YEAR FOR WINE TOURISM
2005 starts with very good perspectives for
wine tourism. After some years experience,
we have seen a growing general interest in
wine tourism, both in travelers and business.
We can find more wineries opening their doors
for visitors, hotels preparing wine related
activities and restaurants offering wine and
food match menus.
We
feel very enthusiastic and looking forward
to offer new things, like introducing a new
wine region in our program with a tour to
Jerez.
Our recommendations are very unique,
Bodegas Castiblanque,
a pioneer winery in La Mancha, and a luxury
wine hotel, Hacienda
Zorita in Salamanca. There is
also a new section: SPANISH
RECIPES courtesy of prestigious
chefs, in this case Raúl Vaquerizo
from Rincón del Olivar in Valladolid.
And, finally, we have the scheduled tours
for 2005.

FEATURED TOUR |

SHERRY
WINES IN JEREZ DE LA FRONTERA from SEVILLA
Sherry wines from Andalucía are some
of the most unfamiliar in Spain, although
they are wines with a lot of history, mystery
and a very interesting production process.
To get to know them better we suggest this
trip to Jerez, a wonderful historical town.
The first stop will be a vineyard to learn
where these wines come from and the factors
that affect its quality. It will follow
the visit to a spectacular bodega
or winery with a complete explanation of
the wine production process, including also
how Sherry brandy and Sherry vinegar are
made. The visit won’t be completed
without a tutored tasting of the different
wines, sherry, fino, amontillado,
brandy and even vinegar. Then you will visit
a small family bodega where you
will taste different fine wines. Both tastings
include special wines not usually available
for the general public. The comparison between
such different bodegas provides a very good
picture of Sherry wine production. Lunch
will be in one of the best restaurants of
Jerez, with local traditional dishes paired
with excellent Sherry wines. This
tour can be specially designed for corporate
events.
