|
|
|
Here is our second newsletter. We want to
thank everybody for the wonderful acceptance
of the first issue and encourage our readers
to send us your comments, what you want to
see, what you don´t like, and your contributions.
This month our featured
tour is Ribera del Duero
from the 27th to the 30th of June. We have
modified the Penedés tour and now it
is Penedés and
Priorat. And for the summer we
are starting our new scheduled one
day tours from Madrid to Ribera del Duero.
We
know and like the places and establishments
we recommend, this is why we can talk about
them and also why we would appreciate very
much your opinion about them. They are all
very open and friendly with wine lovers and
most are out of the tourist track.

FEATURED TOUR |
June
27-30 RIBERA DEL DUERO. WINE, ART AND HISTORY.
From
Madrid
This
tour is perfect for people who want to experience
Spanish wine and Spanish culture. The lodging
would be in a small town home of winemakers,
away from the crowded touristy places. We
will visit some of the best wineries in
Ribera. The tour will also take you through
the history and art of Spain, from the Roman
Aqueduct in Segovia to
castles, monasteries, cathedrals, including
the gothic cathedral of Burgos,
one of the most beautiful in Spain. Ribera
del Duero is just two hours away from Madrid
and the wines produced in this region are
among the finest in Spain. Already in the
XII century, the monks of Cluny were growing
grapes along the river bank of Duero to
produce wine. Ribera de Duero, in the heart
of Castilla-León, is the old land
of castillos or castles. The
landscape is rugged, with small towns and
hills coronate by castles and beautiful
vineyards at this time of the year.

HOTEL |
|
|
Located
in Abalos, a small town with a long
wine tradition, between Haro and
Laguardia, in the center of Rioja
Alta. It is a family run hotel open
in 2002 in an old noble house from
the XVII century restored with incredible
taste. The treatment is exceptional,
professional with a touch of family,
rooms are very comfortable and quiet
and very nicely decorated, the restaurant
of the hotel is very good, one of
the best in the area.

|
|
|
This
historical restaurant and cellar is
located in the centre of Aranda de
Duero, in the popular pedestrian Isilla
Street. The menu is varied, with an
interesting section of dishes from
typical Spanish cuisine, and the Aranda
specialty, roasted young lamb.
This restaurant has an underground

now it is only use for wine aging
and storage of the restaurant wine.
This cellar can be visited if you
