VINTAGE SPAIN NEWSLETTER. Wine tasting tours in Spain
|
|
|
We are starting a monthly newsletter related
with wine tourism, wine travel and wine tours
in Spain. We would like to do something that
you find interesting and possibly useful,
this is why we ask you to send us your suggestions
and comments to tell us what you would like
to see in this newsletter and what you don't
like. We are going to start slowly because
we don't want to bore people from the beginning
Every
month we want to offer a special tour and
to recommend at least a hotel, a winery to
visit and a restaurant or another special
wine related activity. We know and like the
places and establishments we recommend, this
is why we can talk about them and also why
we would appreciate very much your opinion
about them. They are all very open and friendly
with wine lovers and most are out of the tourist
track.

14 -16 WINE AND CAVA TOUR IN EL PENEDÉS
Barcelona
Departure
This tour is the perfect complement for
you Barcelona vacation. The Penedes region
is only forty five minutes away from Barcelona
but there is a dramatic contrast between
them, from the big city to the rural area.
The landscape is spectacular, sea and mountains,
with small towns on top of the rolling hills,
farms, beautiful vineyards at this time
of the year, and the great amount of bodegas
- wineries. On top of that, people are very
kind and hospitable and food is fabulous.
You can find the modern and innovative gastronomy
that is giving Cataluña world recognition,
side by side with traditional dishes. And
of course we have the wineries, some of
them real architectural jewels, where sparkling
wine called cava here and still wines, both
white and red, are produced. Although the
Penedes region is well known in Spain because
of the cava production, very good wine is
produced here as well and a lot of wineries
successfully elaborate both still and sparkling
wine. One shouldn’t forget that this
is the home of Torres winery one or the
largest Spanish wine producers. We will
of course visit Torres,
as well as some of the other big ones, like
Codorniu or Freixenet.
We will also visit some small family wineries
like Pares Balta or Can
Feixes, both producers of wine
and cava.

Located
in a wonderful small town two hours
away from Madrid, Palacio de los
Serrano or Serrano Palace, is a
genuine charming casa rural, something
like a bed and breakfast or a country
inn. It is a restored neoclassic
noble house from XVIII century with
monument category. The house has
a noble stone facade and the inside

WINERY |
|
|
This
is one of our favorite wineries
because of its wines of course,
but also because of its extreme
hospitality. They are some of the
first ones to embrace wine tourism
in Ribera del Duero by opening their
winery to all visitors. A modern
family winery where tradition is
combined with the most modern technology
with the objective of the regular
production of elegant fine wines.
